About

Kara’s experience as an applied behavior analysis therapist left her seeking a way to further assist persons of all capabilities and ages. Kara sought an offering that addressed the whole person: to improve overall health and happiness, rather than one aspect. This search led her to the Sonia Sumar Method: Yoga for the Special Child®.

“You are not given the light by anyone- not even a spiritual teacher. You are that light.”

– S. Satchidananda

How I found this path

yoga-pic-3

My best friend since second grade has Down’s Syndrome. He has taught me so much about myself- and about patience, kindness, and compassion. I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful friend! I’m honored to work with the special needs community, as it will always hold a special place in my heart.

“Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.”
